Bandit d-man Di Cicco deemed Defensive Player of the Week

BROOKS, AB (November 26, 2018) – Brooks Bandits defenceman Jordan Di Cicco (London, ON) has been named the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced today.

Di Cicco, 19, won the award after recording 2 goals and 3 assists in 3 games this past week, in wins over Drayton Valley, Lloydminster, and Sherwood Park as the Bandits extended their nationwide-best record to 24-2. The Bandits had only four healthy regular defencemen in the lineup for the majority of the week as well.

The point streak saw him surge to sixth-highest in scoring among defencemen in the AJHL this season, with 19 points (4 goals, 15 assists) in 26 games.

Di Cicco is in his first year in the AJHL after being recruited from the London Nationals of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League (GOJHL), where he was the league’s Western Conference Defenceman of the Year, and a league all-star.

He is the second Bandit to win the award this season, after Pierce Charleson (Aurora, ON) took the honour for the week of October 8th to 14th.

The Bandits are in action tomorrow night in Calgary taking on the Mustangs aiming for an 11th straight win, before returning home Friday night to host those same Mustangs at 7 PM. Tickets are available online at tickets.brooksbandits.ca.
