Bandit forward Lemay named AJHL Player of the Week

BROOKS, AB (January 30, 2019) – Brooks Bandits forward William Lemay (Marieville, QC) has been named the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s Player of the Week for the second time this season, the league announced.

Lemay, 20, recorded a whopping 9 points (3 goals, 6 assists) in two games last week as the Bandits won 10-2 in Grande Prairie and 7-0 in Whitecourt, for their 18th and 19th consecutive wins.

His five-point performance in Grande Prairie was a career high, and the weekend moved him into second place in the AJHL scoring race, with 72 points (29 goals, 43 assists). He now ranks third in the league in goals and third in assists as well.

Lemay committed earlier this season to attend and play for the University of Vermont in the 2019-20 NCAA season.

It’s the third time this season a Bandit player has won the award, after Lemay’s earlier win for the week of December 10th – 16th, and Ray Christy (St. Paul, MN), who won for the week of October 29th – November 4th.

The Bandits return home on Friday night, hosting the Olds Grizzlys and aiming for a franchise record 21st consecutive win. Tickets are available online at tickets.brooksbandits.ca.
