BROOKS, AB (December 11, 2018) – In his first week of play with his new team, Brooks Bandits goalie Tanner Marshall (Kelowna, BC) has been named the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) Defensive Player of the Week, becoming the third Bandit this season to win the award after defenceman Jordan Di Cicco (London, ON) two weeks ago and goalie Pierce Charleson (Aurora, ON) in October.
Marshall, 19, posted 149 minutes and 8 seconds of shutout hockey to begin his Bandit career, stopping all 25 shots he faced in a 4-0 road win over the Calgary Mustangs on Tuesday, then posting a 22-save shutout on Wednesday night 6-0 win over the Calgary Canucks in Brooks.
He then stopped 13 of 15 shots on Saturday night as the Bandits won in Calgary over the Canucks 5-2, extending his record to 3-0, with a goals against average of 0.67 and save percentage of .968.
He was acquired by the Bandits just prior to the December 1st roster cutdown date in a trade with the BCHL’s Trail Smoke Eaters, with whom he had played the previous season as well.
