BROOKS, AB (June 8, 2017) – The 2017-18 Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) schedule has been released, with the defending league champion Brooks Bandits scheduled to open their campaign with a home-and-home series with the Okotoks Oilers in a rematch of the 2017 South Division Final.
The Bandits will open their schedule in Okotoks on Friday, September 15th and then host the Oilers in the annual Brooks Minor Hockey Bandits Home Opener on Saturday, September 16th at 7:00 PM. The game will once again serve as a major fundraiser for local minor hockey, with a portion of ticket sales and the team share of the 50/50 pot supporting BMH.
In all, the Bandits’ 29-game home schedule will feature 11 Saturday night games, 11 Friday night games, 1 Wednesday night game, 2 Tuesday night games, 1 Sunday afternoon game, and 3 holiday Monday afternoon games.
The holiday games will see another in the Bandits’ annual tradition of Family Day games, with Brooks hosting the Drumheller Dragons on Monday, February 19th. The team will also host a game on New Year’s Day against the Canmore Eagles, and a Thanksgiving game on Monday, October 9th against the Olds Grizzlys. All three will begin at 4:00 PM.
The schedule will see Brooks face the seven other South division teams six times each, with two games each against the eight teams in the North division, plus two extra North games at the annual AJHL Showcase on September 28th and 29th, which will be against the Spruce Grove Saints and Grande Prairie Storm.
The team’s preliminary exhibition schedule features four games; two against the Okotoks Oilers, at home on Tuesday, August 29th and in Okotoks on Monday, September 4th, and two against the Drumheller Dragons, on the road on Friday, September 8th and at home on Sunday, September 10th. Additional exhibition games are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
Season tickets for the 2017-18 campaign are expected to be on sale soon; once they are, they will be available online at tickets.brooksbandits.ca, by phone at (403) 501-0122, or in-person at the Centennial Regional Arena.
