Bandits acquire CJHL rights to Ty Mason from Blackfalds Bulldogs for Maxfield and Brown

BROOKS, AB (September 21, 2023) – The Brooks Bandits have acquired the CJHL rights to forward and Western Michigan commit Ty Mason from the Blackfalds Bulldogs in exchange for goaltender Wilson Maxfield and defenceman Aaron Brown, the club announced on Thursday.

Mason (Weyburn, SK) spent the last two seasons with his hometown Weyburn Red Wings of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL), scoring 57 points (25g, 32a) in 56 games. The 2005-born forward was also a point per game player in the 2023 SJHL Playoffs.

Maxfield (Kelowna, BC) and Brown (Belleville, ON) were part of the 2022-23 Centennial Cup Championship Bandits. Maxfield started 10 games in the regular season, posting an 8-1-1 record and .936 save percentage. Brown was acquired at the January 10th deadline from Cowichan Valley of the BCHL, and appeared in 18 regular season games with Brooks, posting eight points (2g, 6a). He appeared in two AJHL Playoff games.

The Bandits thanks Maxfield and Brown for their contributions and wish them good luck in Blackfalds.

The Bandits host the Sherwood Park Crusaders on Friday, September 22nd at the Centennial Regional Arena for the 2023-24 Regular Season Home Opener. Game time is 7:00 pm, which will be preceded by a free tailgate, player introductions and ceremony commemorating the team’s four Championships banners from the 2022-23 season.

The home weekend continues on Saturday, September 23rd, when the Bandits host the Whitecourt Wolverines at 7:00 pm.
