Bandits acquire defenceman and UNH commit Sam Court from Steinbach

BROOKS, AB (July 6, 2022) – The Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) have acquired defenceman Sam Court from the Steinbach Pistons of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL) for future considerations, the club announced on Wednesday.

Court, 18, spent the 2021-22 season with Avon Old Farms in the US High School Prep league in Avon, CT, tallying 20 points (3G, 17A) in 27 games. He also played for the U18 AAA Neponset Valley River Rats last year, scoring 10 points (1G, 9A) in 17 games.

The 2004-born blueliner is committed to the University of New Hampshire (NCAA Division I).

The 5’10, 185lb native of Winnipeg MB played 7 games with the Pistons during the 2020-21 COVID-shortened season. Prior to that, he played his U18 AAA with the Winnipeg Wild, where he was teammates with Bandits defenceman Hughie Hooker.

Located in Durham, New Hampshire, the UNH Wildcats compete in the Hockey East Conference under Head Coach Michael Souza.

2022-23 Bandits Season Tickets are on sale, with the Exhibition Season opening on August 31. The Regular Season Home Opener is September 16.
