BROOKS, AB (December 1, 2016) – The Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) have acquired 1996-born defenceman Vincenzo Renda (Montreal, PQ) from the Brockville Braves of the Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL), the team announced today.
In exchange, the Bandits sent 1996-born forward Austin Wright (Niagara Falls, ON) and future considerations to the Braves.
Renda, 20, scored 42 points (3 goals, 39 assists) in 60 games for the Braves last season, adding 5 points (2 goals, 3 assists) in 8 playoff games. He was the 3rd-highest scoring defenceman in the entire CCHL.
This season, the 6’1”, 210lb defenceman has registered 7 assists in 10 games played for Brockville.
Prior to his Junior A career, Renda spent four years at St. Paul’s School in Concord, New Hampshire, where he scored 21 points (3 goals, 18 assists) in 29 games in his senior year in 2014-15.
Wright, 20, had recorded 4 points (1 goal, 3 assists) in 14 games for the Bandits this season after scoring 30 points (6 goals, 24 assists) in 52 games in his Junior A debut last year.
