Bandits acquire goalie Benson from Victoria

BROOKS, AB (October 16, 2016) – The Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) have acquired 1997-born goaltender Mitchel Benson (Windsor, ON) from the Victoria Grizzlies of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) in exchange for 1997-born goaltender Tony Rehm (Sun Prairie, WI) and future considerations, the team announced today.

In four starts this season, Benson, 18, holds a 2-1-1 record with a 3.29 goals against average and .890 save percentage. In his rookie season last year with Victoria, the 6’2”, 180lb goalie went 6-12 with a 3.34 GAA and .900 save percentage.

Rehm, 19, went 2-0-2 for the Bandits in 4 starts with a 2.17 GAA and .902 save percentage, after being recruited to the team from the Madison Capitols of the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL).

The Bandits’ next game is next Sunday night, October 23rd, at 7:00 PM in Calgary against the Mustangs.
