BROOKS, AB (December 2, 2021) – The Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) have completed a trade with the Olds Grizzlys, the club announced on Thursday.
The Bandits have acquired 2001-born forward Noah Hackett and 2001-born defenceman Joshua Zinger in exchange for 2002-born goaltender Jared Whale, 2002-born forward Liam Hughes and future considerations.
Hackett, 19, is sixth in scoring in the AJHL with 39 points (22G, 17A) in 30 games this season, and third in goal scoring. He’s committed to Niagara (Atlantic Hockey Conference, NCAA Division I).
Zinger, is fourth in defenceman scoring in the AJHL with 25 points (7G, 18A) in 30 games this season. He’s committed to Northern Michigan (CCHA, NCAA Division I).
Whale, 19, started nine games in his second season with the Bandits, posting an 8-1 record with a goals against average of 1.67 and save percentage of .932.
Hughes, 19, appeared in 22 games with Brooks, scoring eight points (3G, 5A) and 20 penalty minutes.
The Bandits thank Whale and Hughes for their contributions on and off the ice.
The Bandits next game is Saturday, December 4 when they host the Canmore Eagles. Game time is 7:00 pm at the Centennial Regional Arena.
