Bandits acquire rookie forward Kingston from Notre Dame

BROOKS, AB (November 17, 2015) – The Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) have acquired 1997-born forward Rhett Kingston (Black Diamond, AB) from the Notre Dame Hounds of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) in exchange for future considerations, the team announced today.

Kingston, 18, had recorded 15 points (7 goals, 8 assists) in 17 games with the Hounds in his first full season of junior hockey, after graduating from Notre Dame’s Midget AAA program.

The 5’11”, 180lb forward was the second-highest goal-scoring player in the Saskatchewan Midget Hockey League (SMHL) in his final year of minor hockey eligibility last season, recording 36 goals and 12 assists for 48 points in 41 games. Kingston ranked first on the Midget AAA Hounds in both goals and points, while ranking 15th in the SMHL in points.

“Rhett has proven himself as a point producer at the Midget AAA level and followed that up with a great start to his Junior career in the SJHL,” said Bandits head coach and general manager Ryan Papaioannou. “We are fully expecting Rhett to jump into our lineup and find chemistry quickly to continue producing and working towards his goal of a Division 1 commitment.

“We look forward to his arrival in Brooks and his first game with our group.”

Kingston is expected to make his Bandits debut tonight, when Brooks visits Calgary to take on the Mustangs at Father David Bauer Arena at 7:30 PM.
