Bandits acquire Trevor Peca

BROOKS, AB (August 22, 2019) ? The Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) have acquired 2000-born forward Trevor Peca (Clarence, NY) from the Buffalo Jr. Sabres of the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL), the team announced today.

In exchange, the Bandits sent the CJHL playing rights to 1999-born forward Andranik Armstrong (Alexandria, VA) and future considerations to Buffalo.

Peca, 19, comes to the Bandits after scoring 11 points (4 goals, 7 assists) in 12 games with Buffalo last year, following up a season in which he tallied 48 points (12 goals, 36 assists) in 50 games in the OJHL, tying for his team lead in scoring and being named to the league?s All-Prospect second team.

?Trevor is an all-around player with a solid work ethic and understanding of the game,? said Bandits head coach and general manager Ryan Papaioannou. ?He is a resilient person who is ready for a big season, and will have an opportunity to grow his game in Brooks.

?With the earlier additions of Trey Thomas and Chris Pappas, we are very happy with the experience that has been added to our forward group.?

Peca, the son of former NHL forward Michael Peca, is committed to attend and play for the Miami University RedHawks, in the NCAA?s Division I National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC).

Armstrong, 20, scored 32 points (9 goals, 23 assists) in 50 regular season games for the Bandits last year, adding 3 assists in 4 postseason games.

The Bandits open their exhibition schedule on Monday at the CRA against Okotoks at 7:00 PM. Season tickets for the team?s 2019-20 national title defence are available online at tickets.brooksbandits.ca.
