Bandits and Winnipeg Blues complete two-player trade

BROOKS, AB (June 15, 2021) – The Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) have acquired ’03-born defenceman Hughie Hooker from the Winnipeg Blues (MJHL) in exchange for ’02-born forward Nolan Wutzke and Future Considerations, the team announced on Tuesday.

Hooker (Brandon, MB) appeared in six games in the 2020-21 Manitoba Junior Hockey League season for the Blues, posting 7 points (2G, 5A) before the season was cancelled due to COVID-19. The blueliner played his U18 AAA hockey for the Winnipeg Wild, where he put up 60 points (19G, 41A) in 43 games, and was named the Manitoba U18 Defenceman of the Year and First All-Star Team.

Wutzke (Calgary, AB) was acquired on Tuesday in a trade from the Sherwood Park Crusaders. The Edge School grad appeared in 15 games during the 2020-21 season with the Crusaders.

Preparations for the 2021-22 season are underway, with the Bandits Training Camp is scheduled for late August.
