Bandits announce promotional schedule for 2017-18

BROOKS, AB (September 14, 2017) – The Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) are pleased to unveil the most jam-packed home game promotional schedule in franchise history, with more than 14 of the team’s 29 home games scheduled so far for special events.

The promotional schedule is highlighted by three holiday Monday games, including two Skates with the Bandits after home games on Thanksgiving and Family Day, as well as discount tickets for mid-week games with Wendy’s Wild Wednesday and two of the team’s new Twofer Tuesday events.

The season kicks off with the Brooks Minor Hockey Bandits Home Opener on Saturday, September 16th against Okotoks, with all minor hockey kids eligible to get in for just $2 per ticket.

The team’s second home game of the year will be just as special a night, as the second induction into the Smith Group Wall of Fame will honour one of the team’s most popular and accomplished alumni. The identity of the honoree for the game on Friday, September 22nd will be revealed tomorrow.

Monday, October 9th will be a Thanksgiving Day 4:00 PM start against the Olds Grizzlys, with all fans under 18 admitted to the game for free, with a free Skate with the Bandits for kids after the game. The same promotion and rules will apply on Family Day, February 19th, with a 4:00 PM start against the Drumheller Dragons.

On Wednesday, October 25th, Lloydminster will be in town for Wendy’s Wild Wednesday, featuring $5 tickets for all ages, $3 beer for those of age, and great prizes courtesy of the local Wendy’s in Brooks.

Friday, October 28th will be the team’s Halloween Night featuring the return of the annual Pumpkin Auction, where fans can buy pumpkins for their front door that will be carved by their favourite Bandit. In addition, a Costume Contest will provide prizes to the best-dressed kids at the game.

Sunday, November 12th will be another 4:00 PM start and the team’s first-ever Seniors Day at the CRA, with seniors admitted for just $5. The team hopes to arrange transportation for various community groups to allow them to attend the game as well.

Tuesday, November 21st will be the first of two Twofer Tuesdays, against Okotoks, with the second falling on Tuesday, February 13th against the Calgary Canucks. On these nights, tickets at the door will be 2-for-1, as will beer at the Outlaws Saloon at the CRA.

Friday, November 24th against the Calgary Canucks will be the team’s first 80s Night, presented by the Brooks Hotel, while Saturday, December 9th against Olds will feature the annual Teddy Bear Toss, with fans invited to throw stuffed toys onto the ice after the Bandits’ first goal to support Scotiabank Smiles for Christmas.

Continuing the Christmas theme, the Bandits will wear special Ugly Christmas Sweater jerseys on Saturday, December 16th against the Fort McMurray Oil Barons, with fans invited to bid on their favourite player’s jersey on the concourse.

Another New Year’s Day game will fall on January 1st with a 4:00 PM puck drop against the Canmore Eagles, also featuring the Cash Raffle Early Bird Draw.

The team’s annual Charity Jersey Night will be on Saturday, February 3rd against the Whitecourt Wolverines, with the Bandits again supporting the Canadian Mental Health Association through the jersey auction that night.

The promotional schedule concludes on Friday, March 2nd with the team’s annual Awards Night, presented on the ice prior to the game, and the Cash Raffle Grand Prize Draw in that night’s second intermission.
