Bandits acquire Patella and Brown from Cowichan Valley

BROOKS, AB (January 10, 2023) – The Brooks Bandits have acquired forward Davide Patella and defenceman Aaron Brown from the Cowichan Valley Capitals of the BCHL, the team announced on Tuesday.

The Bandits send forwards Ethan DeKay and Quinn Disher, and defenceman Ethan O’Halloran to the Capitals to complete the transaction.

Patella, 19, has 14 points (7g, 7a) in 29 games this year with the Merritt Centennials, where he’s played since the beginning of the 2021-22 season and was their Captain. The 2004-born 6’2, 194lb forward hails from Laval, QC, and played his U18AAA with Laval-Montreal Rousseau Royal.

Brown, 18, has 12 points (3g, 9a) in 32 games with Cowichan Valley this season, and is committed to Quinnipiac (NCAA Division I). The 2004-born, 6’2 195lb forward hails from Belleville, ON, previously playing 21 games with the Green Bay Gamblers (USHL) and 27 games with the Wellington Dukes (OJHL).

O’Halloran has played in Brooks since the 2020-21 season, dressing in 90 regular season games, scoring 30 points (3g, 27a). He won an AJHL Championship and Centennial Cup during the 2021-22 campaign.

DeKay dressed in 15 games for Brooks, scoring 4 goals. Disher appeared in 8 games with Brooks, adding 2 assists.

The Bandits thank O’Halloran, DeKay and Disher for their contributions on and off the ice in Brooks, and welcome Patella and Brown to Brooks.

The Bandits are back in action this weekend with a pair of South Division rivals visiting the Centennial Regional Arena, starting on Friday, January 13 vs the Drumheller Dragons. Then on Saturday, January 14, the Bandits host the Okotoks Oilers, both games are at 7:00 pm.
