Bandits complete trade with Thunder, acquiring Blocha for Mairs and Verbeek

BROOKS, AB (October 12, 2022) – The Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) have completed a trade with the Drayton Valley Thunder, acquiring forward Tyler Blocha for forwards Brendan Mairs and Travis Verbeek, the club announced on Wednesday.

Blocha (Bonnyville, AB) has appeared in 10 games this season with the Thunder, tallying 5 points (4G, 1A).  During the 2021-22 campaign, the 2003-born forward was nearly a point per game player with 15 points (7G, 8A) in 18 games. Blocha is committed to Northern Michigan (NCAA Division I).

Mairs (London, ON) is in his third AJHL season, and has dressed in 82 regular season games, tallying 52 points (25G, 26A). The 2002-born forward appeared in 13 Playoff games, tallying 7 points (4G, 3A) and won an AJHL Championship and later a Centennial Cup.

Verbeek (Flesherton, ON), appeared in 2 regular season games. The 2004-born forward also appeared in 4 Exhibition games, tallying 1 assist.

The Bandits host the Spruce Grove Saints on Friday, October 14, in a rematch of the 2022 AJHL Final. Game time is 7:00 pm at the Centennial Regional Arena.
