BROOKS, AB (November 16, 2021) – For the second time this season, Brooks Bandits defenceman Zach Bookman has been named the Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Defensive Player of the Week.
The Merrimack commit scored seven points (2G, 5A) through three games and extending his point streak to 12 games and 25 points. Bookman was awarded the honour of Inter Pipeline AJHL Rookie of the Week just last week following an eight-point performance.
Bookman scored a goal and two assists on November 10th as Brooks defeated the Olds Grizzlys 8-1. On November 12th, the 19 year-old added two assists on powerplay goals in a 5-1 victory over the Drayton Valley Thunder. Bookman opened the scoring for the Bandits on November 13th versus the Spruce Grove Saints and recorded his 31st assist of the season in a 5-4 shootout loss. The loss snapped the team’s 19-game winning streak, however the team remains without a regulation loss in 20 games.
He leads all AJHL defencemen and rookies with 41 points (10G, 31A) and is third overall in the AJHL scoring race. Bookman is averaging 1.9 points per game in the regular season.
