BROOKS, AB (May 11, 2021) – Brooks Bandits forward Owen Cole is the Inter Pipeline AJHL Player of the Week for May 3 – 9, the league announced on Tuesday.
With 7 points in three games last week, the Bandit centre led all AJHL skaters on the scoreboard.
Owen Cole (Dunnville, ON) opened the scoring on Friday night in the first of three straight games versus the Spruce Grove Saints. Cole recorded 4 assists in Saturday’s 9-3 victory and 2 assists in Sunday’s 6-1 win, including an assist on the eventual game winner.
Cole concluded the season tied for fourth in team scoring with teammate Brayden Krieger and sixth overall in the AJHL with 23 points (6G, 17A) in 20 games.
The UMass-Lowell commit ended the year on a 5-game point streak totalling 11 points. The Brooks Bandits held an 18-2 regular season record with the highest win percentage in the AJHL at .900.
He’s the 5th Bandit to win a weekly AJHL honour this season. Forward Chris Pappas was named the Player of the Week (April 2nd – 6th), forward Sean Chisholm was Player of the Week (April 23-24), TJ Hughes was named Player of the Week (Apr 30 – May 2) and defenceman Corson Ceulemans was the Alberta Ford Dealers Defensive Player of the Week (Nov 13 -15).
The Bandits season has come to an end, with preparations for the 2021-22 season underway.
