Bandits post back-to-back home wins following 4-1 victory over Kodiaks on Saturday

BROOKS, AB (November 4, 2023) – Parker Lalonde’s shorthanded goal broke a 1-1 tie in the 2nd period, and the Brooks Bandits skated to a 4-1 win over the Camrose Kodiaks on Saturday at the Centennial Regional Arena.

Despite the game being scoreless for the first half of the game, the Bandits (17-3) scored two powerplay goals, one shorthanded and an empty-netter in the win. Brooks hasn’t lost at home to Camrose in 22 straight games.

Shots were 38-13 Brooks, as goaltender Brendan Holahan (New Canaan, CT) made 12 saves. Charlie Zolin made 35 in the Camrose net.

After a scoreless 1st period, the first goal opened the scoring at 9:37 of the 2nd period. Forward Ewan McPherson (Edmonton, AB) jumped on a rebound and scored a forehand shot from the right circle to make it 1-0. However, the Kodiaks tied it up at 15:50, as Garrett Thom scored a breakaway to make it 1-1. The Bandits retook the lead on the penalty kill, as Lalonde (Aberdeen, SK) forced a Kodiaks turnover at the blueline, and brought it the other way, scoring on a breakaway to make it 2-1.

Forward Nathan Free (Calgary, AB) scored on the powerplay at 4:41 into the 3rd period, sniping from the right circle to increase the lead to 3-1. Forward Hunter Wallace (Oak Lake, MB) finished the game by scoring on an empty net at 19:15 to make it 4-1.

Brooks went 2/8 on the powerplay, and 6/6 on the penalty kill.

The Bandits are back in action with back-to-back games in Grande Prairie on Tuesday, November 7th and Wednesday, November 8th. Both games are at 7:00 pm.
