Just 3:42 into the game, Bandits forward Heath Armstrong took a hit near his own bench to move the puck ahead to linemate Brendan Mairs, who set up an open Dario Beljo goal in front of the Canmore net to make it 1-0 Bandits. But the Eagles would tie, as they forced a Bandits turnover and Carter Myrol found Kayden Smith net front, who knocked in the tying goal at 12:44. However, Canmore’s Maguire Smyth was given a five-minute major penalty for blow to the head and the Bandits scored on the ensuing powerplay with 8 seconds left in the frame. Forward Devin Phillips (Holy Cross) one-timed a right circle shot to make it 2-1. Shots were 24-1 Brooks in the 1st.
Bandits forward Hunter Wallace (RPI) fired in a left circle shot at 6:26 of the 2nd period to increase the lead to 3-1. After forward TJ Hughes (Mercyhurst) was denied on a Matthew Malin penalty shot save, forward Ryan McAllister (Western Michigan) finished off a 2-on-1 entry setup by linemate Phillips and scored from the right circle to make it 4-1. With under three minutes to go in the period, Bandits defenceman Zach Bookman (Merrimack) scored on a shot from the blueline on the powerplay to make it a 5-1 Bandit lead. Shots were 23-4 Brooks in the period.
Defenceman Dominick Campione (Arizona State) fired a slapshot into the Eagle net at 12:28 to increase the lead to 6-1, and he scored again at 15:50 on the powerplay on a left circle shot that went top shelf. Then in the final minute, Bandits captain Ethan Lund (Niagara) scored on a left point shot, followed by a Brendan Mairs left circle goal with five seconds left in the game to seal the 9-1 win.
