BROOKS, AB (January 5, 2022) – Jack Seymour scored 17 seconds into the game and the Brooks Bandits never surrendered the lead, beating the Grande Prairie Storm 7-1 on Wednesday at the Centennial Regional Arena, the team’s 16th straight win.
Brooks (36-1-1) hasn’t lost in regulation in 36 straight games going back to September 18.
Highlights:
Seymour (Holy Cross) found the back of the net just 17 seconds into the game off an offensive zone faceoff, as forward Anthony Cipollone skated from behind-the-net and shot on the GP net, with the rebound coming to Seymour who knocked in his 9th of the season. Brooks made it 2-0 on the powerplay as forward Dario Beljo got his own rebound on a net-front scramble at 11:27 and beat Storm starter Aiden Feddema. With 29 seconds left in the period, forward TJ Hughes (Mercyhurst) shot from the right circle to make it 3-0. Shots were 12-3 Brooks in the period.
Bandits forward Nic DeGraves scored from the slot 5:29 into the 2nd period on the powerplay to make it 4-0. Forward Noah Hackett (Niagara) scored off the rush on the right wing with 1:43 left in the 2nd on the powerplay to give Brooks a 5-0 lead after two periods. Shots were 15-10 Bandits in the frame.
Forward Ryan McAllister (Western Michigan) increased the lead to 6-0 on a rush to the net that ended in a backhand shot. The Storm spoiled Bandits goaltender Max Beckford’s shutout bid at 13:46 as forward Ethan Strang backhanded Grande Prairie’s lone goal. But with 1:40 left in the game, Bandits defenceman Boston Buckberger (Wisconsin) cleaned up a loose puck in the right circle to make it 7-1, the final. Shots were 16-7 Brooks in the period, and 43-20 overall.
The Bandits host the Bonnyville Pontiacs on Friday, January 7 at the Centennial Regional Arena, game time is 7:00 pm.
