Bandits shutout Thunder, powered by six different goal scorers

BROOKS, AB (October 30, 2020) – Bandits forward Brayden Krieger scored 19 seconds into the game, and that held as the winner as the Brooks Bandits shutout the Drayton Valley Thunder 6-0 on Friday night at the Centennial Regional Arena.

Goaltender Ethan Barwick (St. Albert, AB) made 15 saves for the shutout, as the Bandits (6-1) have won all four home games during the 2020 Exhibition Season.

Krieger (Elora, ON) finished off a 2-on-1 rush seconds into the game, set up by a Chris Pappas (Etobicoke, ON) rush up the right wing. With under 5 minutes left in the 1st period and the powerplay, Bandits forward Ryan McAllister (London, ON) sniped a top-shelf roof shot from the right circle to give Brooks a 2-0 lead. Shots were 13-4 Bandits.

The 2nd period was scoreless, despite the Bandits outshooting the Thunder 17-2, but were unable to beat Drayton Valley goaltender Eric Ward.

The Brooks offence pulled away in the 3rd period. Forward Devin Phillips (Raleigh, NC) tipped in a Corson Ceulemans (Beaumont, AB) point shot 2:22 into the frame to make it 3-0. Then, forward Thomas Cusson (Cowansville, QC) got a rebound off a right circle shot from TJ Hughes (Hamilton, ON) to make it 4-0 at the 7:47 mark.

With just over 5 minutes remaining, Bandits defenceman Zachary Bookman (Syracuse, NY) wristed a shot from the half-wall that snuck past Ward to make it 5-0. Then, with under 4 minutes remaining, defenceman Dominick Campione (Kolher, WI) scored on a point shot to seal the 6-0 victory. Shots were 12-9 in the 3rd for Brooks, final total was 42-16.
