Bandits Press Release – Winnitoy commits to Bandits

Brooks, Alberta, April 9, 2014 – The Brooks Bandits are pleased to announce the signing of 1995 Defenceman, Michael Winnitoy from Calgary AB.  Michael spent last season playing for the Summerland Sting of the KIJHL along with a number of affiliate games for the West Kelowna Warriors of the BCHL.  This season Winnitoy scored 8 goals and added 17 assists for Summerland.  Standing 6'2″, 205 lbs. he also gives the blue line a dimension of size and strength.

Head Coach/GM Ryan Papaioannou – “Michael finished the season with West Kelowna playing in 4 playoff games and is a big, strong defenceman that has experience at the Junior level.  With only 1 returning defenceman we felt it was key to add a player with his qualities.  In the short time we have known Michael he has demonstrated maturity and reliability which will be much needed in building our back end.”

Michael Winnitoy – “I am very excited about coming back to Alberta to play for one of the best Junior A organizations in all of Canada.  The Brooks Bandits have developed a winning tradition and I can't wait for the season to start and be apart of it.”
