BROOKS, AB (July 14, 2023) – The Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) have signed 2004-born forward and Merrimack commit Dakota MacIntosh for the 2023-24 season.
MacIntosh, 19, spent last season with the Alberni Valley Bulldogs of the BCHL (British Columbia Hockey League), where he helped the Bulldogs on their run to the BCHL Championship series vs Penticton. He had a tremendous playoff, finishing third in BCHL Playoff scoring with 25 points (11G, 14A) in 19 games, which paced all players on Alberni Valley.
“I’m honoured to call myself a Bandit. It’s great to be joining this organization. My development on and off the ice is forefront in importance as I work to take my hockey career to the next level. I feel this organization will push my development and will help me reach the next level,” said MacIntosh.
“I have friends that have played for the Bandits organization in the past and all have had nothing but amazing things to say. The coaching staff is proven with lots of success with player development, building strong teams and with winning championships. Their facilities and fans are said to be the best in the AJHL and I can’t wait to play in such an amazing atmosphere. I’m looking forward to contributing to the drive towards another championship this year for this organization. I’m super pumped and can’t wait to get started. “
During the 2022-23 Regular Season, MacIntosh was over a point per game player, tallying 38 points (17G, 21A) in 31 games. The Winnipeg, MB product previously played for the Fargo Force of the United States Hockey League (USHL) and the Fairbanks Ice Dogs of the North American Hockey League (NAHL).
“We feel Dakota is the last piece to the front end. He brings size, offensive savvy and finish around the net,” said Bandits Head Coach and GM, Ryan Papaioannou.
“He’s a proven scorer at the most important time of year. His game will transition well to our style of play, and we are excited to work with him prior to his career at Merrimack College.”
Located in North Andover, Massachusetts, the Merrimack Warriors compete in the Hockey East Conference of NCAA Division I hockey.
The Bandits are participating in the U20 Super Challenge in Karlstad, Sweden from August 15th to 20th. Training Camp will begin on August 26th, with the Exhibition Season opening on September 5th at the Centennial Regional Arena vs Okotoks.
