Bandits sign Brett Clayton

BROOKS, AB (October 26, 2016) – The Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) have signed 1998-born forward Brett Clayton (Abbotsford, B.C.), the team announced today.

Clayton, 17, spent the last season-plus with the Portland Winterhawks of the Western Hockey League (WHL), where he recorded 3 points (1 goal, 2 assists) in 60 career games played.

His brother Chase Clayton also played for the Bandits in the 2014-15 season, recording 59 points (21 goals, 38 assists) in 49 games, as well as 22 points (8 goals, 14 assists) in 20 playoff games as the Bandits reached the AJHL Final.

Prior to his time in the WHL, the 6’4”, 212lb forward recorded 34 points (16 goals, 18 assists) in 40 games for the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds of the B.C. Hockey Major Midget League (BCMML), while adding 3 points (1 goal, 2 assists) in 4 games with the Abbotsford Pilots of the Pacific Junior Hockey League (PJHL).

In 2013-14, Clayton won a Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL) Elite 15s championship with the Yale Hockey Academy, where he scored 28 points (15 goals, 13 assists) in 24 games.

Clayton is expected to make his debut when the Bandits hit the road for two interdivisional games: Thursday at 7:30 PM in Fort McMurray against the Oil Barons, and the following night at 7:30 in Bonnyville against the Pontiacs. Both games will be broadcast beginning at 7:15 PM on Q105.7 FM.
