Bandits sign Kord Pankewicz

BROOKS, AB (December 1, 2016) – The Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League have signed 1996-born defenceman Kord Pankewicz (Drayton Valley, AB), the team announced today.

Pankewicz, 20, most recently played for the Lethbridge Hurricanes of the Western Hockey League (WHL), where last season he recorded 48 points (5 goals, 43 assists) in 71 games, ranking 17th among all WHL defencemen, and registering a +26 rating.

This season, Pankewicz scored 9 points (1 goal, 8 assists) in 24 games for Lethbridge. In total, the 5’11”, 210lb defenceman dressed in 243 career WHL games for the Brandon Wheat Kings and Lethbridge, recording 112 points (13 goals, 99 assists) and 232 penalty minutes, rating a +15 over his career.

“I am very pleased to finish my junior career in Brooks,” said Pankewicz. “I have heard a lot of good things about the organization and can’t wait to get started.”

Pankewicz is a graduate of the Leduc Oil Kings of the Alberta Midget Hockey League (AMHL), where he helped lead his team to a Telus Cup appearance in 2012 in his final year of minor hockey.

The Bandits are next in action this Saturday night on the road, taking on the Lloydminster Bobcats at 7:30 PM. New acquisitions Pankewicz and 1996-born defenceman Vincenzo Renda (Montreal, PQ) are expected to join the team for the trip.
