Bandits sign Matt Cassidy

BROOKS, AB (October 5, 2017) – The Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) have signed 1999-born forward Matt Cassidy (Medford, NJ), the team announced today, in a transfer with the Green Bay Gamblers of the United States Hockey League.

Cassidy, 18, spent last season with the Springfield Jr. Blues of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), where he ranked third on the team in scoring with 38 points (15 goals, 23 assists) in 56 games. He was named that season to the NAHL All-Midwest Division Rookie Team.

Prior to his junior career, he was the leading scorer for Team Comcast in the Atlantic Youth Hockey League (AYHL), where he scored 29 points (15 goals, 14 assists) in 21 games at the 18U level, the fourth highest scorer in the league that year.

He is currently committed to attend and play for Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut, a member of the NCAA’s Division I ECAC Hockey conference.

Cassidy will join the Bandits in time for their weekend road trip to Drayton Valley and Sherwood Park, where they will take on the Thunder on Friday night at 7:30 PM.

Tickets are on sale for the Bandits’ next home game, a Thanksgiving Day special against the Olds Grizzlys, at 4:00 PM on Monday, October 9th. Tickets are free for fans under 18 years old, and can be purchased online at tickets.brooksbandits.ca.
