Bandits sign Ray Christy

BROOKS, AB (September 26, 2018) – The Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) have signed 1999-born forward Ray Christy (St. Paul, MN) to the active roster, the team announced today.

Christy, 19, began the season with the Waterloo Black Hawks of the United States Hockey League (USHL), and is committed to attend and play for Colorado College of the NCAA’s Division I National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC).

The 5’9”, 175lb forward played last year for St. Thomas Academy in Mendota Heights, Minnesota, scoring 52 points (14 goals, 38 assists) in 25 games and ranking fifth in the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) in assists.

He also suited up in 21 games for Team Southeast of the Upper Midwest High School Elite League (UMHSEL), scoring 16 points (6 goals, 10 assists) in 21 games.

Overall, in three years at St. Thomas, Christy scored 121 points (39 goals, 82 assists) in 84 games, adding 12 points (4 goals, 8 assists) in 9 games at three appearances in the Minnesota state tournament.

He is expected to make his Bandits debut this weekend when the team travels to Camrose for the annual AJHL Showcase, beginning Friday night against the Drayton Valley Thunder at 8:00 PM.

The team’s next home game is Monday, October 8th, hosting the Okotoks Oilers for a special Thanksgiving Monday day game at 4:00 PM. Tickets are available at tickets.brooksbandits.ca, with all fans under-18 priced at $0 for tickets and a post-game skate with the team occurring after the game.
