BROOKS, AB (March 26, 2019) – Six members of the Brooks Bandits were named to the AJHL South Division All-League and All-Rookie teams today, representing half of the division’s selections for the 2018-19 season.
AJHL scoring leader and Vermont commit William Lemay (Marieville, QC) was named as one of three forwards on the All-League team after his 90-point campaign that included the 6th-most goals in the league (32) and most assists (58).
Rookie goaltender Pierce Charleson (Aurora, ON) was named the All-League goalie after a 42-2 campaign with a .913 save percentage, 9th best in the league, and 2.13 goals against average, second-best in the league. He is the first Bandit goalie since Jan Obernesser in 2010-11 to be named to the All-League team.
On the South All-Rookie team, first-year Bandit players took four of the six potential spots. Defensively, it was a Bandits sweep, with Ethan Lund (Calgary, AB) receiving the honour alongside Vermont commit Andrew Lucas (Alexandria, VA), who had the 16th-most assists of any player in the AJHL this season.
Two of the three forward spots went to Bandit rookies as well, with Canisius College commit Simon Gravel (Boucherville, QC) being voted in after scoring the fifth-most goals in the league (33), as well as Colorado College commit Ray Christy (St. Paul, MN), who had the second-most assists in the AJHL (55) in his first year of Junior A.
The Bandits open their eighth consecutive South Division Final playoff series this weekend with games against the Okotoks Oilers on Friday and Saturday night at home. Tickets are available online at tickets.brooksbandits.ca.
