Bandits win fifth straight following 4-1 victory Wednesday night at the CRA

BROOKS, AB (October 6, 2021) – Boston Buckberger scored twice and despite a 50-save performance from Canmore Eagles goaltender Andreai Proctor-Ramirez, the Brooks Bandits skated to a 4-1 victory on Wednesday night at the Centennial Regional Arena.

Goaltender Ethan Barwick made 11 saves in the win, which is the Bandits fifth straight.

After a scoreless opening 11 minutes, Brooks forward TJ Hughes (Mercyhurst) was fed a pass from Devin Phillips (Holy Cross) and shot from the right circle to make it 1-0 Brooks at 11:15. But 30 seconds later, Eagles forward Lane Paddison one-timed a behind the net pass to tie the game 1-1. Brooks regained the lead with four minutes left in the period, as defenceman Buckberger (Wisconsin) got a rebound from a Zach Bookman (Merrimack) blue line shot and scored to make it 2-1 Bandits. Shots were 13-6 Brooks in the 1st.

The 2nd period was scoreless, but the Bandits threw everything at Proctoc-Ramirez, outshooting the Eagles 17-2.

Phillips would get the Bandits some insurance in the 3rd period, scoring on a forehand shot from the left circle to make it 3-1 at 6:01. Buckberger added another 15:54 from the left point to seal the 4-1 win. Shots in the 3rd were 24-4 Bandits for a game total of 54-12.
