Bandits win streak snapped following low-scoring loss in Okotoks

OKOTOKS, AB (March 28, 2021) – For the first time in the 2020-21 regular season, the Brooks Bandits (6-1) were defeated, falling 2-1 to the Okotoks Oilers (7-1) at Pason Centennial Arena on Sunday night, snapping their 6 game winning streak.

The Oilers scored two goals in the 1st period, the first time this season the Bandits allowed the game’s first goal, and never gave up the lead.

Bandits goaltender Ethan Barwick made 22 saves in the loss, while forward Sean Chisholm (Dartmouth commit) scored the lone Brooks goal.

Days Inn & Suites Highlights:

After a strong start for the Bandits, Oilers forward Bowden Singleton scored the game’s first goal 8:36 into the game on a one-timer set up from behind the net to make it 1-0 Okotoks. Then with 48 seconds left in the 1st period, Dylan James made good on a breakaway chance to double their lead. Shots were 10-5 Bandits in the 1st.

Brooks got on the board with 2:22 left in the 2nd period. Chisholm deked around the Oiler defence and fired in a shot from the right circle for his team leading 7th of the year, extending his point streak to 7 games.

Barwick made a huge save on a James one-timer in the 3rd period to give Brooks a chance, but despite pulling the goaltender for the extra attacker, the Bandits couldn’t find the equalizer. Final shots were 25-24 Brooks.
