Bandits winning streak snapped following 2-0 setback in Spruce Grove

SPRUCE GROVE, AB (December 9, 2022) – Despite a 44 save performance from Ethan Barwick, the Brooks Bandits had their 18 game winning streak snapped following a 2-0 loss to the Spruce Grove Saints on Friday at the Grant Fuhr Arena.

It was just the second regulation loss this season for Brooks (30-2-2), who went unbeaten in regulation in 28 consecutive games since their last loss on September 24th. It was the Bandits first road loss since October 21st in Sherwood Park.

The game’s first goal came at 9:02 of the 3rd period, as defenceman Brophy Dunne one-timed a corner pass from Luigi Benincasa to make it 1-0 Saints. Spruce Grove doubled their lead to 2-0 with 58 seconds remaining, as Alexander Babich scored off the rush. Saints starter Zac Onyskiw stopped all 24 Bandits shots he faced.

The Bandits road trip continues on Saturday, December 10 in Drayton Valley. Game time is 7:00 pm, with live coverage on Real Country 105.7 FM.
