BROOKS, AB (November 19, 2022) – Aiden Fink scored four points, the Bandits powerplay converted three times, and Brooks swept their four-game week with a 6-2 win over the Blackfalds Bulldogs on Saturday at the Centennial Regional Arena.
Brooks outscored their opposition 24-6 in their four wins this week, punctuated by a win over Blackfalds. Goaltender Ethan Barwick (Lindenwood) made 28 saves, while Fink scored twice, with additional goals from Elliot Dutil, Brendan Poshak, Caelan Fitzpatrick and Hudson Malinoski.
Dutil (Lindenwood) scored just seven seconds into the powerplay, tapping in a pass from Dario Beljo from the right circle to make it 1-0. The Bandits doubled the lead to 2-0 at 8:59 as Poshak (Northern Michigan) tapped in a Nathan Free (Penn State) pass off the rush to double the lead to 2-0.
Brooks came out firing in the 2nd period, as Fink sniped a right circle shot on a saucer pass from Dutil, who caught a stretch pass from Barwick on the powerplay. Seconds later at 1:01, forward Fitzpatrick (Niagara) fired in a one-timer from Tyler Blocha (Northern Michigan) to make it 4-0 Brooks. At 8:25, and back on the powerplay, Brooks centreman Malinoski (Providence) fired in a left circle shot top corner to increase the lead to 5-0. The Bulldogs cut the lead to 5-1 at 12:21, as Layne Loomer scored off the rush.
Blackfalds made it 5-2 at 6:52, as Brendan Ross scored top corner. But Fink would put the finishing touches on the game at 14:28, as Blackfalds turned the puck over behind their to Malinoski, who found Fink in front for the tap-in to make it 6-2, the final.
