DRUMHELLER, AB (September 17, 2022) – Brendan Poshak broke a scoreless 3rd period, Ethan Barwick made 25 saves, and the Brooks Bandits prevailed in a 4-0 blanking of the Drumheller Dragons on Saturday at the Memorial Arena.
The Bandits (2-0) have opened their 2022-23 season with back-to-back wins, outscoring their opponents 9-1 through the first two contests.
The 1st period was scoreless, with the shots even 6-6. The 2nd period was also scoreless, but Brooks had to kill off three straight penalties in the period, but still outshot Drumheller 12-6.
The first goal came at 6:36 as forward Brendan Poshak (Northern Michigan) scored on a breakaway setup by Dario Beljo (AIC), scoring five-hole on Garret Fuller to make it 1-0. The Bandits doubled their lead at 14:06 as forward Caelan Fitzpatrick (Niagara) one-timed a pass from behind the net. Brooks tripled their lead to 3-0 at 15:10 on the powerplay, as Aiden Fink (Wisconsin) scored from the left circle on a behind the net setup by Beljo. The Bandits put the finishing touches on the game at 17:59 as forward Hunter Wallace (RPI) scored shorthanded on an empty net to make it 4-0. Shots in the 3rd were 13-12 Dragons, but 30-25 Bandits overall.
