OKOTOKS, AB (February 10, 2023) – For the second straight game, Ethan Barwick and the Brooks Bandits shutout their opponent, this time winning 4-0 over the Oilers on Friday at the Centennial Arena.

Barwick’s 13th career regular season shutout ties a team record, set by Michael Fredrick. Brendan Poshak, Danylo Korzhyletskyi, Mikhail Simchuk and Caelan Fitzpatrick scored the Bandits (45-5-2) goals for their fourth straight win.

Forward Hudson Malinoski (Saskatoon, SK) thought he had opened the scoring in the 1st period on a goal that he tapped-in, but the net was ruled to be off. Poshak (Green Bay, WI) opened the scoring at 16:30, shelving a Heath Armstrong (Calgary, AB) pass to make it 1-0.

The Bandits doubled their lead to 2-0 at 3:36 of the 2nd period, as Korzhyletskyi (Kyiv, UK) finished off a tic-tac-toe passing play. At 11:08, Simchuk (Kyiv, UK) tapped-in an Elliot Dutil (Montreal, QC) back-door pass to make it 3-0.

Barwick (St. Albert, AB) would not be beaten despite Okotoks emptying the net late in the 3rd period. After taking a defensive zone draw, Fitzpatrick (Moose Jaw, SK) scored on an empty net to make it 4-0. Final shots were 32-21 Brooks.

The Bandits are back in action on Saturday, February 11th, visiting the Blackfalds Bulldogs for a 6:00 pm start. Follow along on Real Country 105.7 FM and HockeyTV.
