CALGARY, AB (November 22, 2022) – Dario Beljo and Elliot Dutil each scored hat tricks, Wilson Maxfield made 17 saves, and the Bandits extended their winning streak to 14 games following a 9-0 shutout of the Canucks on Tuesday at the Mex Bell Centre.
Maxfield (Kelowna, BC) picked up his second shutout of the season, while Aiden Fink (Calgary, AB) and Sam Court (Winnipeg, MB) each had four-point games. Brooks remains unbeaten in regulation in 24 consecutive contests.
Court opened the scoring at 1:47 of the game, after forward Jordan Hughesman (Winnipeg, MB) sauced a pass from the wall to Court, who sniped a right circle shot to make it 1-0 Bandits. Brooks doubled the lead at 8:13, as forward Danylo Korzhyletskyi (Kyiv, UK) took a corner pass from Mikhail Simchuk (Kyiv, UK) and scored short-side on the Canucks starter Spencer Borsos. The Bandits increased the lead to 3-0 at 18:06 after Dutil (Montreal, QC) forced a turnover at the Canucks blueline, and worked a give-and-go passing play with Korzhyletskyi, finished off by Dutil.
Brooks needed 44 seconds of the 2nd period to extend the lead to 4-0, as captain Dario Beljo (Sudbury, ON) cleaned up a loose puck off a Court shot. Beljo converted on the powerplay at 4:09, finishing off a behind-the-net pass from Nathan Free (Calgary, AB) to make it 5-0 Brooks.
Dutil increased the lead to 6-0 at 4:40 of the 3rd period, one-timing a Fink saucer pass. At 12:09, Beljo completed the hat trick on the powerplay with a net front tap-in from a Fink pass to make it 7-0, and forward Hudson Malinoski (Saskatoon, SK) scored top right corner on the powerplay at 12:36 for a 8-0 Brooks advantage. Dutil completed the hat trick at 15:21 on the powerplay, finishing off a Fink pass. Final shots were 44-17 Brooks.
The Bandits begin a four-game homestand this Friday, November 25, when they welcome the Olds Grizzlys for Military Night. All current and past military members receive $7 tickets. Brooks hosts the Blackfalds Bulldogs on Saturday, November 26, both games this weekend start at 7:00 pm.
