Cale Makar named AJHL Player of the Week

The Canalta Hotels AJHL Player of the Week is Cale Makar of the Brooks Bandits.  The 18 year-old defenceman scored 11 points (3G, 8A) in three victories for the Bandits last week and extended his active point streak to 6 games and 14 points.Cale Makar (Calgary, AB) is tied for 5th in the AJHL Scoring Race with 12 goals, 26 assists, and 38 points.  He is averaging 1.4 points per game and leads all AJHL defencemen in scoring.

On November 30th, Makar scored the game winning goal in a 3 point game against the Camrose Kodiaks.  He enjoyed another 3 point night on December 3rd and recorded an assist on the winning goal against the Lloydminster Bobcats.  Makar ended the week with a 5 point game in Sherwood Park and again recorded an assist on the game winner.  The Bandits have won 10 in a row and hold top spot in the Viterra AJHL South Division Standings.

Makar was recently named the Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Player of the Month for November 2016.  Cale has committed to the University of Massachusetts (NCAA Division I).
