Dreyson Kuiper joins Bandits as Digital Media Coordinator

BROOKS, AB (June 10, 2021) – The Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) have hired Dreyson Kuiper in the position of Digital Media Coordinator, the team announced on Thursday.

Kuiper, a Brooks local, has volunteered with the Bandits since the 2015-16 season in the areas of media and video production.

“I’m thrilled to join the Bandits,” he said.

“The Bandits have always been at the top of the list of perennial national contenders. Most of all I’m ecstatic to be a major part of the team I grew up watching and cheering for.”

A graduate of the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) Television Production program, Kuiper was involved with the SAIT Trojans video production, and also interned with the Calgary Flames in media production.

“The Digital Media position is so wide ranging that it becomes difficult to find a person with a skill set to match the requirements of the job,” said Bandits Head Coach and GM, Ryan Papaioannou.

“Dreyson has become well versed over his years of volunteerism in what it takes to produce a quality hockey broadcast. He spent a number of years being trained by Tyler King and those experiences will help Dreyson succeed in his new role. The most encouraging asset Dreyson brings to the organization is a willingness to have ideas. He’s already identified a number of ways we can improve and it now becomes his responsibility to lead those improvements.”

Kuiper will be responsible for the Bandits video production, including managing the video board during games, video features and content, game highlights, graphic design, and working with the coaching staff on compiling video. He will also oversee scheduling and recruiting volunteers for video production during home games.

“We’re excited for Dreyson, he’s more than earned this opportunity,” said Bandits Business Manager, Nathan Crosby.

“Dreyson’s skillset, passion and familiarity with our team made this an easy decision. We welcome him to the Bandits and know he’s going to surpass our expectations in this crucial role that allows us to be leaders in video and media.”

Kuiper’s first day with the Bandits will be July 5.
