Dutil scores six points, Bandits roll Canucks Tuesday night at Max Bell

CALGARY, AB (October 25, 2022) – Elliot Dutil had a six-point game, Brendan Poshak scored twice and the Brooks Bandits picked up their second straight win on the road, defeating the Calgary Canucks 8-3 on Tuesday at Ken Bracko Arena.

The Bandits (14-1-2) have pick up points in 12 straight games, as Ethan Barwick (Lindenwood) made 31 saves in the win.

Poshak (Northern Michigan) opened the scoring at 10:17 of the 1st period, scoring top shelf off the rush to make it 1-0. Shots were 14-5 Brooks in the period.

Bandits Captain Dario Beljo (AIC) doubled the lead to 2-0 at 4:53 into the 2nd, as he also scored top shelf off the rush. Poshak’s second of the game came at 9:49, as he burned past the Canucks defence and scored on a breakaway to make it 3-0. Dutil’s first goal came at 11:50, as he blasted a one-timer from the right circle on a pass from Sam Court (New Hampshire) to increase the lead to 4-0. Calgary got one back at 12:13, as Ty Hipkin shot a puck that sneaked over the goal line off a Barwick save to cut the lead to 4-1.

The Bandits powerplay put the game out of reach in the 3rd, as Court one-timed a right circle shot just 58 seconds in to give Brooks a 5-1 lead. Less than a minute later, Court dropped a pass to forward Hudson Malinoski (Providence), who sniped the 6-1 goal at 1:39 on the man advantage. Dutil’s second of the game came at 2:38, scoring on a breakaway with a backhander to make it 7-1. Calgary scored at 9:15 as Justin Barker tipped in a pass from the corner to make it 7-2, but Bandits forward Jordan Hughesman (Merrimack) scored on a forehand shot from the left circle at 16:50 to give Brooks a 8-2 lead. The Canucks got one back late, as 8-3 was the final. Brooks out shot Calgary 44-34 in the game and went 3/7 on the powerplay and 5/5 on the penalty kill.

The Bandits have a home and home series with the Drumheller Dragons this weekend, starting Friday in Drumheller at 7:00 pm. Then, the Dragons visit Brooks on Saturday, October 29th for the rematch, puck drop is 7:00 pm.
