BROOKS, AB (April 2, 2021) – The Brooks Bandits (7-1) are back in the win column following a tight 2-1 victory on Friday night at the Centennial Regional Arena that saw Brayden Krieger break a 1-1 tie with 3:30 left in the 3rd period against the Calgary Canucks.
Bandits goaltender Jared Whale made 21 saves for the win, while Canucks goaltender Adam Dmyterko turned away 36 Bandit shots.

Game recap: The 1st period was scoreless. Dmyterko stopped 14 Bandit shots, while Whale denied a Calgary breakaway attempt by Landon-Samuel Kolnik.
The game’s first goal didn’t come until 9:52 into the 2nd period. Forward Owen Cole (UMass-Lowell) redirected a Zach Bookman (Merrimack) pass from the bottom of the right circle to make it 1-0 Bandits. Whale made another stop on a Canucks breakaway, this time by Dylan Clark.
Calgary tied the game 1-1with 3:40 left in the 2nd as forward Kaidan Johnson one-timed a pass from behind the net. Shots were 13-9 Brooks in the frame.
With 4 minutes to go in the 3rd, Krieger was denied on a one-timer attempt by the glove of Dmyterko. But 30 seconds later, forward Sean Chisholm (Dartmouth) moved up the right win on a 2 on 1 rush, shooting on net and giving a big rebound to Krieger, who put the puck into the net to make it 2-1 Bandits.
Calgary pulled Dmyterko for the extra attacker and got a last second shot on Whale, but were denied overtime. Final shots were 38-22 Brooks.
