Bandits Press Release – Lodermeier signs with Bandits
Brooks, Alberta, June 19, 2014 – The Brooks Bandits are pleased to announce the signing of 1995 Forward, Derek Lodermeier from Brooklyn Center, MN. Derek played last season with the Soo Eagles in the North American Hockey League where he collected 7 goals and 15 assists for 22 points. Prior to playing in the NAHL the 6'3, 205 lb. centre was a scoring sensation for Totino-Grace High School with 32 goals and 33 assists for 65 points in only 26 games. Lodermeier comes to the Bandits with two seasons of junior eligibility remaining and will take up one of the six import positions on the hockey club.
Head Coach/GM Ryan Papaioannou – “Derek is first and foremost a great person. He is mature, carries himself professionally and has leadership qualities that we are excited about. On the ice the first thing you notice is his size and the fact he moves really well for a big player. His straight away speed is really fun to watch and he has a great skill set to go along with the size and skating. Derek is strong on face-offs and pays attention to the details of 200 foot hockey. We were impressed with Derek's play for the Minnesota Blades summer team in a recent tournament in Toronto. We had great dialogue with him prior to the tournament and are really happy with his decision to join our program in his pursuit of an NCAA Scholarship.”
Derek Lodermeier – “I am really excited to be joining the Brooks Bandits and be a part of such a great organization. I can't wait to contribute to the team once the season starts.”
