Maxfield gets first career shutout, Beljo crosses milestone with hat trick as Bandits blank Storm in Grande Prairie

GRANDE PRAIRIE, AB (November 4, 2022) – Wilson Maxfield recorded his first career AJHL shutout, while forwards Dario Beljo and Aiden Fink reached the 100 career points milestone as the Brooks Bandits blanked the Storm 5-0 at Bonnetts Energy Centre on Friday.

Beljo (AIC) recorded his first career hat trick in the win, as the Bandits (18-1-2) winning streak extends to six games, and the team hasn’t lost in regulation in 16 consecutive outings.

The captain opened the scoring at 17:59 of the 1st after Brooks successfully killed off 5-on-3 disadvantage, as he tapped in a loose puck off a Hunter Wallace (RPI) right circle shot on the powerplay to make it 1-0.

The Bandits doubled the lead at 8:48 as Nathan Free (Penn State) forced a turnover by Storm goaltender Adam Kelly behind his own net, and passed to centre Caelan Fitzpatrick (Niagara), who slid the puck into the open net to make it 2-0.

Brooks tripled the lead at 10:05, finishing off a behind-the-net pass from Fink (Wisconsin) with a one-timer on the powerplay. Then at 14:53, Beljo got his first career hat trick, redirecting a Fink left circle pass on the powerplay to make it 4-0. Forward Brendan Poshak (Northern Michigan) finished things off at 18:43, as Fitzpatrick tapped a pass to Poshal which he redirected into the Storm net to make the score 5-0. Final shots were 43-24.

The Bandits wrap up their North Division road trip on Saturday, November 5, as they face the Wolverines in Whitecourt. Game time is 7:00 pm, listen live on Real Country 105.7 FM and watch on HockeyTV.
