BROOKS, AB (June 8, 2023) – The Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League have signed 2005-born defenceman and Northeastern commit, Dylan Compton.
Compton, 18, spent last season with the Vernon Vipers of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL), tallying 18 points (4G, 14A) in 40 regular season games. He dressed in 11 BCHL Playoff games scoring 9 points (2G, 7A) in 11 games. He was 9th in scoring amongst all BCHL rookie defenceman in the 2022-23 season.
“I’m very excited to be joining a team with such an outstanding reputation for developing players and moving them on to the next level,” said Compton.
“I feel very fortunate and honoured to be a part of the Bandits as they have an amazing culture, and I can’t wait to do my part in bringing another championship to Brooks.”
Compton (Victoria, BC) played previously for Shawnigan Lake School U18 Prep team in the CSSHL, where he was the highest scoring defenceman, and won CSSHL U18 awards for Top Defenceman and MVP.
“We feel Dylan can step in and provide big minutes with our club. He’s a player with experience that will thrive in our environment,” said Bandits Head Coach and General Manager, Ryan Papaioannou.
“Dylan is highly regarded around the hockey world, and we are excited for the opportunity to work with him along the path to the NCAA.”
He’s committed to Northeastern (NCAA Division I).
