Oliver Chau commits to Brooks for 2016-17

BROOKS, AB (August 26, 2015) – The Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) have begun the recruiting process for 2016-17 early, announcing today that they have secured the commitment of 1997-born forward Oliver Chau (Oakville, ON).

Chau, 5’9”, 154lbs, will join the Bandits for the 2016-17 season after completing his senior year this season at Northfield Mount Hermon School in Mount Hermon, Massachusetts. Northfield Mount Hermon competes in the elite New England Prep School Ice Hockey Association.

“Oliver had a visit to Brooks during last season’s playoffs and was impressed with our community, fans and overall atmosphere,” said Bandits head coach and general manager Ryan Papaioannou. “We had the opportunity to work with him last summer in New England while touring Division 1 schools and he quickly became a player of interest to us.”

“After attending this year’s Main Camp, Oliver made the decision to be a Bandit next season, and we are very happy to be able to start our recruiting class early,” he added.

Chau recorded 34 points (17 goals, 17 assists) in 29 games last season, ranking second on NMH in his first year on the team.

“I'm very excited about being a member of the Brooks Bandits in the near future,” said Chau. “Brooks is a great junior hockey town and also a great place to pursue my goal of playing Division 1 College Hockey.”
