Pharmasave Weekend Preview: Bandits host Canucks on Saturday, visit Okotoks on Sunday

BROOKS, AB (March 26, 2021) – The Brooks Bandits (5-0) head into the 3rd weekend of the AJHL’s Return to Play with a 5-game winning streak, and their perfect record intact.

Coming off a weekend that saw the March 20th game vs Okotoks cancelled to allow for the completion and analysis of a COVID-19 test, the Bandits had to wait until Sun, March 21st to travel to Calgary and double the Canucks 4-2 at Ken Bracko Arena.

This weekend will see the Bandits host the Canucks on Sat, March 27th at the Centennial Regional Arena (7:00 PM), and travel to Okotoks on Sun, March 28th for a date with the Oilers at Pason Centennial Arena (4:30 PM).

Centre Sean Chisholm has yet to be held off the scoresheet this season, with 10 pts (5G, 5A) through 5 games, and is coming off a 2-goal performance vs the Canucks. The Dartmouth commit is 5th in league scoring.

Forward Brayden Krieger notched his 100th career AJHL point with an assist on Sun vs the Canucks. The Bowling Green commit is 14th in the AJHL in helpers with 5, tied with his teammate, defenceman and Niagara commit Ethan Lund.

UMass commit and centre Taylor Makar has 4 pts (2G, 2A) in his last 2 outings, including a breakaway goal on Sunday vs the Canucks, while teammate and Robert Morris commit TJ Hughes is riding a 5-game point streak.

 

 

Defenceman Corson Ceulemans enters the weekend 2nd in league scoring for defenceman (14th overall). The Wisconsin commit has 7 pts (4G, 3A) through 5 games.

Goaltender Ethan Barwick is 4-0 as a start this year, coming off a 20 save performance in the team’s only game this past weekend.

The Canucks (0-6) are still searching for their 1st win of the season after going 3-2-3 in the Exhibition season.

The Oilers (5-1) haven’t played since Mar 19th when they shutout Calgary 8-0. Their lone loss came to Brooks back on March 13th, but have won 2 games in a row since then.
