Pierce Charleson wins AJHL Defensive Player of the Week

Brooks, AB (December 9, 2019) ? Brooks Bandits goaltender Pierce Charleson (Aurora, ON) has been named the Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Defensive Player of the Week (December 2 to 8).

Charleson started three games during a busy week for the Bandits, going undefeated with a 1.65 GAA, improving his record to 25-1-1.

He made 20 saves on December 3rd in a 6-2 win in Olds. Less than 24 hours later, he turned in a stellar performance against Drumheller, stopping 33 of 34 shots and helping Brooks to a 2-1 overtime win.

The 19-year-old Michigan State commit then made 22 saves in a 4-2 win at Drumheller on December 6th.

Charleson is 5th overall in the AJHL with a 2.77 GAA and .904 save percentage. He leads the AJHL in wins with 25.

He?s the second Bandit to win the league?s defensive player of the week award; defenceman Tim Rego won the award during the week of October 7th to 13th.

Charleson and the Bandits head on the road this week, with stops in Grande Prairie on Friday (Dec. 13) and Whitecourt (Dec. 14). Listen to both games live on Real Country 105.7 FM.
