BROOKS, AB (November 1, 2019) ? Brooks Bandits forward Randy Hernández (Miami, FL) has been named the AJHL Player of the Month for October, the league announced today.
Hernández, 20, recorded 23 points (10 goals, 13 assists) in just 12 games in the month, scoring at least one point in 10 games and also notching 7 multi-point games, including a career-high five-point game on October 11th in Calgary.
It brought the veteran forward up to 5th in the AJHL scoring race, with now 29 points (13 goals, 16 assists) in 18 games. He also ranks third in the league in goals, and sixth in assists, while having only recorded three penalties all season.
Hernández is in his second season with Brooks, and first as an alternate captain, after joining the team from the Lincoln Stars of the United States Hockey League (USHL) last season, en route to capturing a National Junior A Championship with the club. He is the first Bandit to win the Player of the Month award this season, and first since William Lemay won for November of 2018.
Hernández and the Bandits return to action tomorrow night, hosting the Drumheller Dragons at 7:00 PM and aiming to extend their undefeated start to 19 straight games. Tickets are available online at tickets.brooksbandits.ca.
