BROOKS, AB (November 5, 2018) – Brooks Bandits forward Ray Christy (St. Paul, MN) has been named the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s Player of the Week, the league announced today.
The 1999-born forward scored eight points in three games over the course of the week, notching four assists each in games Tuesday in Olds and Saturday at home against the Calgary Canucks.
The points gave Christy a total of 20 (3 goals, 17 assists) in only 13 games with the team, ranking him 3rd in the AJHL in assists despite having joined the team later in the season.
An NCAA Division I commit to Colorado College, Christy was signed by the Bandits in late September after starting the year in the USHL. He ranked fifth in the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) in assists last season with St. Thomas Academy in Mendota Heights, Minnesota, scoring 52 points (14 goals, 38 assists) in 25 games.
The Bandits hit the road this weekend for games up north in Fort McMurray on Friday and Bonnyville on Saturday. Pre-game coverage of both games starts at 7:15 PM on Real Country 105.7.
