BROOKS, AB (March 27, 2020) – The Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) announced its Viterra All-League Teams on Friday, and two Brooks Bandits were named to the South Division list.
Defenceman Tim Rego was announced following one of the greatest seasons by a Bandit defenceman, scoring 61 points (24 G, 37 A) and tying a team record for goals by a defenceman in a season, joining Cale Makar who scored 24 in the 2016-17 campaign.
The Mansfield, MA native was a finalist for the AJHL Defenceman of the Year Award, was named to the AJHL South Division All-Rookie Team, and his strong play earned him a scholarship to Cornell University, where he’ll attend and play for the Big Red.
Forward Randy Hernández was also named to the team following one of the greatest scoring seasons in Bandit history.
The Miami, FL native finished with 42 goals and 53 assists, and his 95 points is the 3rd most in a season in team history.
He finished 3rd in league scoring, and 2nd in goals. He was 1st in powerplay goals in the AJHL, was named League Player of the Month twice, and League Player of the Week four times.
His outstanding play earned him a scholarship to Robert Morris University, where he’ll attend and play for the Colonials.
