BROOKS, AB (October 15, 2015) – The Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) have returned 1999-born rookie forward Leif Mattson (Stonewall, MB) to the St. Albert Raiders of the Alberta Midget Hockey League (AMHL), the team announced today.
However, Mattson remains eligible to play in the AJHL as a Bandit, having been now signed as an Affiliated Player (AP) by the team, and remaining on an AJHL White Card Certificate, keeping Mattson on the Bandits’ Reserve List as a protected player.
The 6’0”, 179lb forward dressed in four regular season games for the Bandits this season, registering two penalty minutes.
Mattson, 16, was the second-highest scoring player in the Alberta Minor Midget Hockey League (AMMHL) last season, registering 84 points (42 goals, 42 assists) in 33 games for the St. Albert Flyers.
The move will allow Mattson significantly increased playing time in a vital developmental year, while also retaining a place for him within the Bandits organization.
