APRIL 3, 2023 – Brooks Bandits alumnus Ryan McAllister has signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Florida Panthers of the National Hockey League (NHL).
McAllister just completed his Freshman season at Western Michigan, finishing sixth in the NCAA Division I scoring race with 49 points (13G, 36A) in 39 games, while his 36 assists was third amongst all college players.
The London, ON, product was acquired by the Bandits in a trade during the 2019-20 season, and went on to have one of the most prolific careers in team history and recent Junior A history.
He was named the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL) MVP during the 2021-22 season. His 139 points during that season is a Bandits record for most in a single season. The 2021-22 AJHL scoring champion was also named the 2021-22 AJHL MVP. His offensive efforts saw him become the first AJHL player to record over 130 points in one campaign in 24 years.
McAllister played three seasons in Brooks, tallying 169 points in 99 regular season games. He has 29 points in 13 Playoff games, and was named the 2022 AJHL Playoff MVP. During his final season in Brooks, the alternate captain helped guide the Bandits to an AJHL and Centennial Cup Championship.
His 1.71 points/game average is the highest in Bandits history, and he’s sixth all-time in team scoring.
The Bandits congratulate McAllister and his family on this accomplishment.
